I’ve only read nonfiction so far this year, but I thoroughly enjoyed Yulia Ustinova’s Divine Mania: Alterations of Consciousness in Ancient Greece. It delves into a lot of the questions left open by Dodds’ The Greeks and the Irrational. Fascinating if you have an interest in a more nuanced understanding of ancient ideas surrounding consciousness and religion and how they intertwine.
